What is FOF (Force on Force)?
FOF, or “Force on Force,” is a highly realistic training method used in firearms and tactical training where participants engage in live-action combat simulations. These scenarios involve direct, often physical, interaction between trainees and opponents, replicating real-life hostile encounters. The aim is to build practical skills for responding to threats under stress, improving decision-making, situational awareness, and the proper use of force.
In FOF training, participants typically use non-lethal ammunition like Simunition®, airsoft weapons, or StressVest® to simulate live-fire conditions without the danger of real bullets. Safety gear is always required, as trainees practice everything from defensive tactics to offensive maneuvers in dynamic environments. This type of training is common for law enforcement, military, and security professionals, but it can also be used by civilians undergoing advanced defensive firearm training.
The key benefit of Force on Force training is that it allows individuals to experience the pressure and intensity of a real-life threat. By placing trainees in realistic, high-stress scenarios, they learn how to control their adrenaline, make quick decisions, and respond appropriately to evolving threats. This kind of immersive training is invaluable for developing the practical skills needed for personal defense and tactical operations.
