What are Sims?
Sims, short for Simunition, are specialized marking rounds designed for law enforcement, military, and civilian tactical training. These rounds allow trainees to engage in realistic force-on-force drills, where participants use modified firearms to shoot at each other or role-players without the risks associated with live ammunition. Sims rounds typically contain colored marking agents that leave visible marks on impact, providing instant feedback on accuracy and engagement.
Sims training focuses on decision-making under pressure, tactical movement, and situational awareness. In addition to improving marksmanship, these drills replicate combat stress and threat recognition by immersing participants in realistic scenarios such as active shooter incidents, hostage rescues, or room clearing exercises.
Sims require the use of protective gear such as helmets, gloves, and neck guards to minimize injury, as these rounds produce a mild sting upon impact. Firearms used for sims are either equipped with conversion kits or are specially designed to fire only non-lethal marking rounds, ensuring live ammunition is not mistakenly used during exercises.
